Moulding and extrusion are different types of manufacturing processes which shape raw materials and they are often confused.
Molding involves filling a mould with molten raw material, which cools and solidifies, resulting in a 3D product. Extrusion pushes raw molten material through a die/tool, resulting in a continuous length which are called profiles. Molding pushes out of the tool, and extrusion pushes through. As simple explanation is that spagetti is extruded (pushed through) and a chocolate easter egg is produced from a mould (pushed out).
