What is plastic edging?

When people search for plastic edging online they usually know what they are looking for but don’t necessarily know how best to find it. In terms of extrusions, plastic edging can mean different things. On this page you will find some of the most common profile shapes that can be used as plastic edging depending on your requirements. Listed here are some of the most popular sizes but for the complete range please look at our online shop with plastic profiles.

Plastic edge strip

The most likely match for someone searching for a plastic edge strip is what we call Flat Bar Strips. These profiles are simple in shape, they are just a thin rectangular extrusion which have no angles or corners, and are perfect for plastic edging. The only dimensions apart from the length are the width and thickness.
Another option for plastic edging strip is our Plastic Lipping. They are similar to the Flat Bar Strips but they are shaped more like a hockey stick, or the letter J, with a lipped edge on one side of the profile. Plastic Lipping is often used in vehicle conversion projects as part of the elevated roofs.

Plastic channel edging

The most likely match for someone searching for plastic channel edging is what we call Plastic Channels. These edging profiles are similar in shape to Plastic Angle Trim, but they have an extra leg, with both legs being equal in length. Plastic channel edging is sometimes referred to as U Channel which reflects the shape of this profile.

Plastic angle edge trim

Plastic Angle Trim is often used as an edge strip because the shape makes it suitable for edging 90-degree corners. Often this will be used as a plastic edging strip on a wall, but it could also be other surfaces including boards, panels, sheeting and glass.

Other forms of PVC edging strip

Some people searching for PVC edging strip need the profile to be similar to a plastic channel but with one leg longer than the other. We offer two possible solutions to this type of plastic edging, which are Plastic J Channels and Plastic Capping. These products are similar and between them offer a range of size solutions for your plastic edging needs.

Plastic edge trim – finding the right solution for you

Information about all variations of our plastic edging trim can be found on our website including product descriptions, shape and dimensions. But if you are not sure which plastic edging solution you need, we would advise you to request plastic edge trim samples from us, so you can see the different profile shapes for yourself. We are happy to post our all our samples, including samples for plastic edging trim, free of charge. The short samples are pre-cut. We are not able to send out longer lengths, but we do have samples ready for posting of all the products listed on our online shop. By using plastic strip edging right-angled corners is made easy.
